Using a Content Delivery Network (CDN) will allow site images and assets (JSS and CSS) to be served from the CDN Point of Presence nearest to the customer. This will improve load times for your site. Managed WordPress and Managed WooCommerce site plans include the Nexcess CDN.
On new install sites, the CDN Enabler plugin is automatically installed but not activated.
Step 1: Activate CDN Enabler
Log in to your WordPress admin panel.
From the admin panel, select Plugins > Add New.
In the Search plugins field, enter “cdn enabler.” In the CDN Enabler section, click Install Now. If the CDN Enabler plugin is already installed on the site then you will not need to have to install you can just activate it.
When the installation completes, click Activate.
Step 2: Configure CDN Enabler
From your WordPress admin panel, select Settings > CDN Enabler.
In the CDN hostname text box, type your CDN hostname in or copy it from the portal. For example, eadn-wc01-693205.nxedge.io.
You can find the CDN hostname info in the portal in the Content Delivery Network section, which is in the performance tab. If you are using the Nexcess CDN on a live domain that matches the site domain set in the site plan then set that in the CDN Enabler settings. Click Save Changes.
Step 3: Configure Autoptimize (Optional)
If you are using the Autoptimize plugin on your site, you will need to update the CDN Base URL in the plugin settings. This allows Autoptimize to serve minified CSS and JS from the CDN.
From your WordPress admin panel, select Settings > Autoptimize.
In the CDN Base URL text box, type your CDN origin URL.
Click Save Changes and Empty Cache.
When you are testing the site using the Nexcess CDN using GTmetrix or WebPageTest it should be tested from multiple continents, if you're testing from a geographical region close to the origin server, the performance benefit will not be as apparent as it would to a test done in a different region.
If you do need to purge the content being stored in the Nexcess CDN you can purge the CDN directly from the portal in the performance tab.
