How to use SiteWorx to enable or disable bounce messaging for the domain attached to your physical (non-cloud) Nexcess account.
Definition
SiteWorx provides a feature that allows you to control what happens when messages are sent to non-existent email accounts on your domain. For example, if the email account once existed, but has been removed or changed, a bounce message will inform the sender that the email address is no longer valid. Alternatively, you can enable email forwarding for the inactive email address.
But first...
This method is only available to Nexcess clients on physical (non-cloud) accounts. For assistance with your cloud account, contact our 24-7 support team by email or through your Client Portal.
Method
- Log in to your SiteWorx account.
- If you do not know your password, click Forgot your password on the login page.
- If you do not know the web address for your SiteWorx login page, either refer to your Welcome Email or contact our 24-hour support team for assistance.
- From the SiteWorx main menu, click Hosting Features > Email > Overview.
- The Bounce Messages section provides the following options:
- On: Enables the bounce message feature, so when an email is sent to a non-existent email address on your domain, the sender is informed that the email address does not exist.
- Off: The message sent to the nonexistent account is discarded, and no bounce message is sent to the sender. If this option is selected, the sender will not be notified that the email address is invalid.
- Catchall: Messages are forwarded to a different email address specified by you. This is called a "catchall" address. No bounce message is sent to the sender.
- On: Enables the bounce message feature, so when an email is sent to a non-existent email address on your domain, the sender is informed that the email address does not exist.
- Click Save.
