How to create a secure password

September 11, 2019

  • Long and Complex, NOT a short password or pattern repeated several times

  • Random, NOT a birthday, relative or pet name, favorite song, address, phone number, quote, or anything else easily linked to you or your interests

  • Unique, NOT a password you have used anywhere else

  • Secret, NOT shared with any third parties

Examples of secure passwords:

The easiest way to create and maintain secure passwords is to use a password manager like LastPass, Dashlane, or 1Password. These apps organize and encrypt your unique passwords in the cloud, but require you to remember only one unique password.
