You also get the ancillary benefit of being able to add on higher end features like additional firewalling and staging environments.

MCE-SIP-200 | Web Application Cluster $2699.95 (USD)

The Web Application Cluster further decomposes each service required by Magento onto its own physical hardware and enhances the power provided directly to Magento by the addition of multiple web application servers. The application servers are fed by an inline load balancer which can auto-detect performance problems and reallocate load accordingly over the two servers. This cluster also provides a single source storage server on an internal Gig-E network to provide instant updates to the entire cluster when a change is made.

This cluster not only expands the web application nodes from two to four (effectively doubling capacity) but it also adds in an additional database server. This additional database server can be used as a "hot backup" or can be utilized as a read-only source for Magento to further spread the database load. The MCE-SIP-300 also employs the latest Dell server hardware on both the front and back-end to power through the busiest of holiday seasons.
