Our Facility

Back-Up Generator

300KW Cummins Diesel generator with a 700 gallon belly storage fuel tank which allows it to run for 30+ hours at full load before it needs to be refueled. The generator is exercised for 15 minutes every week, serviced semi-annually and is load bank tested once a year to ensure it is in proper working order. We have multiple local accounts for diesel fuel in the event that the generator needs to be refilled on the fly to continue operation.

Power and Back-Up Systems

600 amp 480V 3-phase connection to DTE (Detroit Edison), with dual Liebert Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS's), one 100 kVA and one 150 kVA, back up all critical systems. These units provide a critical power bridge between the time that a loss of power from DTE is detected to the time that the back-up generator takes over and provides power to the facility, ensuring that there is no power loss to the critical systems and customers. Our UPS.s run a monthly self battery test and are serviced on a semi- annual basis for preventative maintenance.

We have also committed ourselves to being part of the solution - not the problem by being a proud participant in DTE's GreenCurrents renewable energy program.

Network Connectivity

Our network is designed for maximum uptime and we partner with the best in the business for consistent, stable and fast connectivity. We use industry-standard BGPv4 to peer with multiple Tier 1 networks. This provides reliability through automatic failover and maintains connectivity even when one of our peers has internal problem with their routes. We exclusively use Cisco, the industry standard for dependable high performance routing and switching, at the core level of our network. Distribution and access transport layers are handled by Dell Powerconnect series switches. We use the following bandwidth providers, Level (3), Savvis, Global Crossing and Cogent to provide a redundant network that we back with our 99.9% uptime guarantee.

Main Offices

More than 2000 square feet of office space houses our 24x7 on site support staff as well as our day to day operational staff. This space also includes a fully furnished lobby and private office space available for lease by clients. As one of our security measures, all visitors to Nexcess enter and exit through this area so they can be checked in and out by our staff.

Power Distribution Units

Multiple Liebert power distributions units (PDU's) allow us to provide circuits throughout our facility, wherever power is needed. Each unit is fed from one of our UPS systems to ensure that power to our systems is never interrupted. Each PDU is visually inspected at the beginning of every shift by our tech staff.

Environmental Control

Redundant Liebert HVAC units keep the temperature and humidity within the DC at optimum levels. These down flow air units also have changeable filters that control the air quality within the DC. The down flow configuration pressurizes the raised floor cavity allowing out technicians to target cooling within the DC as needed. Each HVAC unit is visually inspected at the beginning of every shift by our tech staff.

Servers and Colocation Cabinets

Our main raised floor data center area contains multiple rows of servers and colocation cabinets for everything from shared hosting to dedicated servers to single U colocation to a full private colocation cabinet. Rows are set up in a Hot Aisle - Cold Aisle configuration. Each cold aisle is fed from the HVACs by cold air from under the pressurized floor via strategically placed perforated floor tiles. Each hot aisle has multiple ventilation tiles overhead to remove the heat from the room and return it through the ceiling plenum back to the HVACs. This configuration maximizes the environmental efficiency of our HVAC units.

Colocation Cages

Multiple 10' x 10' private colocation cages for customers who need more than just a private colocation cabinet. Each cage has its own unique private lock and can be supplied with as much air from the pressurized raised floor and power circuits as needed by the customer. Additional larger cage sizes are also available.

Fire Detection / Suppression

The entire 3200 sq. ft. of raised floor data center is covered by a pre-action dry-pipe fire suppression system. The system is broken into zones allowing us to accurately and efficiently address an alarm, should one occur. The system contains ceiling mounted and below floor smoke detectors. For every smoke detector that is visible on the ceiling, there is a matching one below the raised floor. Our fire suppression system also has below and above ceiling sprinkler heads. In the unlikely event that a fire should occur above the ceiling, there are multiple up-firing heads in the plenum to combat it.

Security

Facility is staffed 24x7. Offices and data center are equipped with no less than (6) external and (10) internal cameras monitoring all activity. External cameras have night vision capability so nothing is missed after dark. All facility entrances/exits are controlled by proximity key card access system. Front and rear data center entrances are dual door "man traps" to further prevent illegal access to the data center. All security systems can be accessed by our staff from anywhere via our private external VPN if needed.

Customer Lounge

Large customer lounge area for all to use when spending extended periods of time at our facility. Lounge includes wired and wireless internet access, full kitchen, restrooms and comfortable workstations. This is the perfect place for customers to get away from the noise of the data center and concentrate while here.

Conference Room

Large private conference room with available seating for up to 10 or more. The conference room is available to all customers who may need a private space to meet with fellow colleagues. Phone, wired and wireless internet are also available as well as a projector for large presentations.
