NEXCESS.NET Adds Virus and Email Scanning

NEXCESS.NET's popular SiteWorx website manager has been integrated with the popular open source antivirus program ClamAV, and SPAM email filter SpamAssassin. Virus laden e-mails and SPAM have become an increasing problem over the last few years and this additional filtering underscores NEXCESS.NET's commitment to fighting SPAM and keeping all NEXCESS.NET based e-mail accounts SPAM and virus free.
As of this writing all incoming and outgoing email is now scanned for viruses and SPAM. NEXCESS.NET clients can specify filtering parameters for incoming email via the SiteWorx control panel.

About SpamAssassin
SpamAssassin is a popular open source spam filter that works with a variety of mail transfer agents (MTA's) and features. SpamAssassin uses a wide variety of local and network tests to identify spam signatures. This makes it harder for spammers to identify one aspect which they can craft their messages to work around. Easy to extend: Anti-spam tests and configuration are stored in plain text, making it easy to configure and add new rules. Flexible: SpamAssassin encapsulates its logic in a well-designed, abstract API so it can be integrated anywhere in the email stream. The Mail::SpamAssassin classes can be used on a wide variety of email systems including, qmail, used by the InterWorx-CP. Easy Configuration: SpamAssassin requires very little configuration; you do not need to continually update it with details of your mail accounts, mailing list memberships, etc. Once classified, site and user-specific policies can then be applied against spam. Policies can be applied on both mail servers and later using the user's own mail user-agent application.

Clam AntiVirus is a GPL open source anti-virus toolkit for Linux/UNIX. The main purpose of this software is the integration with mail servers (attachment scanning). The package provides a flexible and scalable multi-threaded daemon, a command line scanner, and a tool for automatic updating via Internet.
